Understanding and Addressing the Disruptive Impacts of Contemporary Climate Crises

This paper examines how contemporary climate crises disrupt existing crisis governance arrangements and undermine collaborative capacity. Using the 2019–2020 Australian “Black Summer” bushfires as a prototypical case, the authors identify five mechanisms of disruption: stretching, blurring, fracturing, ossifying, and improvising.
