Karen Legge Bursary Scheme
Launched in 2023, the Karen Legge Bursary scheme is funded by SAMS to support attendees of in-person Journal of Management Studies (JMS) events, including JMS conferences and workshops.
How to Apply
Bursaries are only available for specific events where the scheme is active. Application forms are sent directly to invited attendees.
If you've received an application form, you can apply by submitting the following:
Your full name, institution, and career stage
Contact details
A draft budget outlining expected costs
A short statement explaining:
- How attending the event will support your research or professional development
- Why financial support is needed (e.g. lack of institutional funding, high exchange rates)
Who Should Apply?
This is a needs-based bursary. We welcome applications from individuals facing financial barriers to attending JMS events. We especially encourage:
PhD students
Early Career Researchers
Individuals from under-represented groups (including but not limited to gender, identity, disability, ethnicity)
Applicants from geographically under-resourced regions
What’s Covered?
The bursary typically offers up to £1,000 to help cover reasonable travel and accommodation costs, including:
Flights
Visa fees
Subsistence
Accommodation
Reimbursement is made upon submission of valid receipts. The amount awarded may vary depending on the event location and individual circumstances.
