Submit Point-Counterpoints
How to Submit a Point–Counterpoint
Point–Counterpoint is a special feature of the Journal of Management Studies (JMS) that captures current debates in the field of management and organisation studies. It provides a platform for contributors to explore theoretically and empirically challenging issues, offering fresh insights and innovative approaches.
What Is It?
Point–Counterpoints:
Debate timely and complex issues in management and organisation studies
Present differing viewpoints in a constructive and rigorous format
Propose new theoretical or methodological perspectives informed by recent developments
Revisit and refresh established ideas to inspire new research directions
May include review-style contributions that bring together diverse perspectives or challenge conventional thinking
Who Can Contribute?
Proposals are welcomed from authors, scholars or practitioners with relevant expertise.
How to Propose a Contribution
To propose a Point–Counterpoint:
Submit a brief outline of the topic and its relevance to current debates in management and organisation studies.
Describe the scope of the discussion, the contrasting perspectives, and the intended scholarly contribution.
Identify the authors of both the Point and Counterpoint entries and confirm their agreement to participate.
Email your proposal to the JMS Editorial Office at business.jms@durham.ac.uk
If your proposal is approved, you may be invited to submit a more detailed version for peer review.
Tips for Contributors
Check with the JMS Editorial Office to confirm that there is not already a Point-Counterpoint in progress on a similar topic.
Review previous Point–Counterpoint published in JMS to understand the format and expectations.
Ensure your contribution is clear, well-argued, and grounded in recent scholarship.
Focus on the debate, not the individuals. Constructive disagreement is welcome.
