JMS Says is a unique section of the Journal of Management Studies (JMS) that invites personal, reflective essays from scholars across the field. Co-edited by Paul Hibbert and April Wright, and overseen by Associate Editor Dimitrios Georgakakis, JMS Says aims to spark new conversations in management and organisation studies.
We welcome essays that challenge assumptions, highlight overlooked issues, and offer bold calls to action. These essays are not expected to develop theory or rely on empirical data, they are grounded in lived experience and written in a personal, introspective style. What We’re Looking For
Successful JMS Says include:
A personal narrative that identifies a clear problem and suggests potential solutions
An introspective writing style that tells a compelling story
An original or overlooked issue that carries emotional weight
A bold and practical call to action relevant to management scholars
We especially encourage submissions from junior scholars and those from geographically or socially marginalised communities.
How to Submit
To be considered, please submit the following via ScholarOne:
- A 300-word proposal outlining your essay idea
- If invited, a full essay of up to 3,000 words
Please note: Authors who have previously published in JMS Says must wait three years from the date of acceptance before submitting again
All proposals are reviewed by the editorial team, who will provide feedback and guide the next steps.
