M. Dolores del Rio is an associate professor at Facultad de Ciencias Empresariales, Universidad Austral, Argentina. Her research focuses on humanizing and dehumanizing processes in organizations, exploring the symbolic, cultural, and emotional aspects that influence actors and organizational practices. She works ethnographically, with a particular interest in end-of-life care, volunteering and caregiving organizations, and in what qualitative methods can and cannot reach. She also writes on the methodological and existential conditions of embodied fieldwork — including how researchers are prepared, supported and protected when their own exposure becomes part of how knowledge is made.
