Ethnographic research in most extreme cases – settings marked by death, trauma, moral breakdown or existential rupture has consistently shown that researchers’ bodies, emotions and sensibilities become entangled with the worlds they study.
This paper reframes vulnerability as an openness to being affected by, and affecting, the world and others.
