Expert Memories: The Professional Construction of the Past and the Mnemonic Making of Occupations

This article introduces a special issue connecting occupations and memory, arguing that occupations are sustained by practical and historical memory and that memory work is central to professional projects, identity, and jurisdictional claims. It outlines key themes (expert & memory work, mnemonic communities, and mnemonic professional projects) and sets an agenda for future research on technology, ethics, and boundary dynamics.
