The Interactive Impact of Regulation, Entrepreneurship, and Cultural Values on Technology Adoption: Renewable Energy in the EU

In this paper authors examine how different sources of legitimation shape renewable energy adoption by incumbent electric utilities across the EU. They show that inducement policies were generally more effective than imposition policies in encouraging adoption. The paper also highlights how entrepreneurial entry and pro-environmental cultural values can strengthen the impact of policy in different ways.
